T’Railway Loop (Phase I) Ribbon-Cutting! November 24, 2016

Members of the Conception Bay South Main Street Business Improvement Association (BIA) Board of Management were joined by members of Council and the Grand Concourse Authority for a ribbon-cutting this morning to officially open the first phase of the T’Railway Loop between Dawsons Run and Tobins Road.

Completion of this portion of the T’Railway Loop is the first capital project of the Main Street BIA. According to Christine Hand, Chair of the Main Street BIA Board of Management, “The construction of Phase I of the T’Railway Loop is an important milestone for the Main Street Business Improvement Association. This is the first tangible improvement that we have made to Main Street, and it is one that will have far-reaching impacts on both the users of the T’Railway and visitors to Main Street.”

While the project was not a Town initiative, it was very supportive of the work. Hand continued, “We are grateful for the encouragement and support from the Town of Conception Bay South and look forward to working closely with them on a number of future projects and initiatives that will further enhance the downtown core.”

Three kilometres of T’Railway run parallel to Main Street and three looped walking/cycling options have been identified. This particular “Loop” refers to a 2 km circuit that can be made by taking the T’Railway from Manuels River, onto Tobins Road, and then back to Manuels River using this new infrastructure.

The goal is to encourage T’Railway users to get off the trail and visit Main Street for their shopping and service needs. Additional work will take place in the future to formalize “Loops” at Anchorage Road (4 km) and Minerals Road (6 km).
